The review piece authored by Assist. Prof. Güneş A. Aşık from the Department of Economics, on the impact of Syrian immigrants on Turkish economy was published as a digital article in Harvard Business Review. The study discusses the immigrants’ impact on growth, exports, employment, unemployment, and consumption expenditures, and underlines the need for long-term policies to limit the negative impacts of the immigration crisis.

Güneş A. Aşık received her master’s degree in international development from Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2006, and her Ph.D. in Economics from London School of Economics. Having joined TOBB ETÜ faculty in 2016, Güneş A. Aşık’s research focuses primarily on development, labor economics, long-term differences in development between regions, the participation of women in labor force, and the employment of women.
