Management Information Systems Department Officially Opened!
1 MONTH(S) AGO
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department within the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at TOBB University of Economics and Technology.
Management Information Systems is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that integrates technology, data, and management under a single framework. Our program aims to educate dual-competency professionals who not only possess technical expertise but also have a comprehensive understanding of business processes, can make data-driven decisions, and are capable of leading digital transformation projects.
Within the framework of TOBB ETÜ’s distinctive Cooperative Education model, our students will have the privilege of gaining nearly one year of real-world work experience before graduation by working full-time in the industry for three semesters throughout their four-year undergraduate education.
The Management Information Systems Department strongly aligns with TOBB ETÜ’s vision of academic and applied education, as digitalization has become not only a technical transformation for organizations but also a managerial, organizational, and strategic transformation area. Today, institutions require professionals who possess both technical knowledge and a management perspective in areas such as data analytics, artificial intelligence applications, enterprise information systems, business process management, cybersecurity, digital platforms, and technology-based decision support mechanisms.
The TOBB ETÜ MIS Department has been designed as an applied undergraduate program integrating technology, data, and management to meet this need. The department aims to educate students not merely as users of information technologies, but as dual-competency professionals capable of analyzing organizational processes, designing information system solutions, contributing to data-driven decision-making processes, and serving as a bridge between technical teams and management in digital transformation projects.
The most significant differentiating aspect of the department at TOBB ETÜ is the integration of the applied nature of the MIS field with the university’s three-semester Cooperative Education model. Throughout their education, students will not only acquire theoretical knowledge in the classroom but also have the opportunity to observe real business processes, data flows, information systems, and digital transformation challenges within organizations and develop solutions for these challenges. This structure will support graduates in entering the business world as individuals who are more prepared for professional life, possess strong practical experience, and have advanced interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
Within this framework, the TOBB ETÜ MIS Department aims to contribute to the development of qualified human resources needed by both the private sector and public institutions in the fields of enterprise information systems, data analytics, business process management, digital transformation, IT governance, entrepreneurship, and responsible technology use.
