Dr. Itır Köymen and Dr. Ali Murat Demirtaş joined our department as full-time faculty members.

 

 

Dr. Itır Köymen, obtained her BSc and MSc degrees in 2010 from Edinburgh University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and obtained her PhD degree in 2014 from the Bioengineering Department of the Imperial College, London.  During her graduate studies Dr Köymen both served as a teaching assistant and researched on bio-inspired VLSI circuits and analysis, emulation and implementation of memristors. She returned to Turkey after PhD and started to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the CMUT group of Bilkent University, under the guidance of Prof.  Abdullah Atalar on ultrasonic transducers. Lastly Dr. Köymen received the TÜBİTAK 2218 postdoctoral research grant and worked on memristor fabrication and graphene based memristive devices.

 

 

 

Dr. Ali Murat Demirtaş obtained his BSc and MSc degrees in 2005 and 2008 from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering departments of Bilkent and Middle East Technical Universities, respectively. He obtained his PhD degree in 2015 from the University of California, Irvine, USA and served as a teaching and research assistant in this period. His graduate research was on 3D TV,  H.264 video coding techniques, wireless video multicast, image/video quality estimation and video compression. During his PhD studies Dr. Demirtaş has also been in AT&T Shannon Laboratories as an intern.  After obtaining his PhD and before returning to Turkey, Dr. Demirtaş worked as a senior video engineer at Qualcomm , a leading telecommunication company, for one year.
