Students from the Economics PhD Program at TOBB University of Economics and Technology achieved outstanding success in the Hüseyin Ekrem Elginkan Graduate Student Research Awards Competition, organized as part of the Third Economics and Society Congress.

Following evaluations conducted by a distinguished jury comprising faculty members from Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Başkent University, Istanbul Technical University, Yıldız Technical University, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, and Middle East Technical University (METU), our Economics PhD students received two prestigious awards.

Ayşe Sevde Gevrek was awarded Second Prize for her study entitled “Genetic Algorithm Learning in Non-Cooperative Games: Equilibrium Refinements and Evolutionary Stability.”

Aysu Çelgin, another student in our Economics PhD Program, received Third Prize for her study entitled “Home Country Credit Ratings and the Cyclical Responses of Migrants' Remittances to Output Movements Over Domestic Business Cycles.”

Held for the first time on April 15–17, 2026, the Third Economics and Society Congress provided an important platform for young researchers to present their academic work and showcase their contributions to the literature. These awards, together with the other distinctions earned by our Economics PhD students in recent years, further demonstrate the high academic standards and research excellence achieved by the Graduate Programs in Economics within the Institute of Social Sciences.

We congratulate our doctoral students for successfully representing both the Department of Economics and the Institute of Social Sciences, and we wish them continued success in their academic careers.
