Nurol Makina ve Sanayi A.Ş. became the latest firm to accede into the protocol for “Training Researchers for Defense Industry Program (SAYP)” implemented by TOBB ETÜ in cooperation with the Defense Industry Secretariat (SSM), with a view to enabling the employment of graduate students as researchers at firms operating in defense industry. To date, the SAYP program at TOBB ETÜ involved ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, TAI, FNSS, STM and ROKETSAN. With the accession of Nurol Makina ve Sanayi A.Ş., the number of firms included in the program rose to 7.

SAYP enables the employment of the students (researchers) enrolled in graduate programs at TOBB ETÜ, by defense industries included in the program, and the sharing of their time between the university and the relevant corporation. The researchers’ graduate thesis topics are set and guided by the officials of the relevant industrial enterprises, as well as the faculty members working in coordination.

TOBB ETÜ Technology Transfer Office officials note that SAYP ensures that the dissertations authored by students (researchers) registered at TOBB ETÜ graduate programs, who also work at defense industry firms, are written with the priorities of the defense industry and the R&D requirements of the firms in mind.
