TOBB ETÜ Economics Students to Explore Emerging Economies in Depth with New Course IKT443
5 HOUR(S) AGO
The Department of Economics at TOBB University of Economics and Technology has introduced a new elective course into its undergraduate curriculum as of the 2024–2025 Summer Term: IKT443 – Macroeconomics for Turkey and Emerging Economies. The course offers a theoretical and applied framework for understanding macroeconomic challenges that are often overlooked in standard textbooks but frequently encountered in countries like Turkey.
Throughout the course, students will examine a range of structural issues—from the limitations of expansionary policies and the impact of currency depreciation on growth, to domestic borrowing constraints and external balance-related vulnerabilities. These topics will be discussed through the lens of theoretical models and supported by empirical research.
IKT443 was developed as part of the department’s ongoing effort to strengthen its analytical and critical approach to the Turkish economy. Designed not only to convey knowledge but also to enhance students’ analytical and applied skills, the course contributes to TOBB ETÜ’s broader vision of educating economists who can relate global dynamics to local realities and understand the structural constraints that shape economic policymaking.
