“Smart Cities Laboratory ” is to be established with the participation of Dr. Mehmet Akşit Head of Software Engineering Department, Twente University to TOBB ETÜ family. The labrotory which will prepare the environment for experimental and theoretical studies, aims to bring various universities from Turkey and around the world to work on software intensive systems and smart cities.

The smart city concept which has gained more importance in today’s evolving and developing world is also strategically important for Turkey. It refers to the collection of electronic information and data with different sensors and the urban areas where these data are used to efficiently manage resources and assets.

Software-intensive systems form the infrastructure of smart cities. In this context, the efforts to make systems work together, reliable, fault-tolerant, testable, adaptable, and evolving are crucial to transforming investments in smart cities into value.
