Graduate School of Engineering and Science

The following requirements apply to all applications submitted to our Institute's programs:

• English Language Proficiency: Only YDS, e-YDS, TOEFL iBT, YÖKDİL, and TOBB ETÜ English proficiency examinations are accepted. Only the TOEFL iBT is recognized; other TOEFL formats are not accepted for application purposes. (Doctoral applicants are not eligible to take the TOBB ETÜ English proficiency examination.)
• Applications to Doctoral Programs: Applicants must hold a thesis-based master's degree.
• ALES Score Type: All ALES score requirements are based solely on the Quantitative score type. Scores from other ALES categories will not be considered.

Scholarship Types and Eligibility

Full Scholarship

• Includes either a monthly living stipend or a partial living stipend together with housing support.
• For full-scholarship students who choose accommodation at the University Guesthouse, TRY 8,550 will be deducted from their scholarship.
• Scholarship Amounts for the 2025–2026 Academic Year

Special Achievement Scholarship

• This scholarship is awarded to a limited number of students who satisfy the eligibility requirements set forth in the relevant provisions of the regulations and are selected by the Rectorate.
• Includes either a monthly living stipend or a partial living stipend together with housing support.
• For recipients of the Special Achievement Scholarship, the monthly living stipend is calculated at 150% of the amount awarded to full-scholarship students.
• Applicants for the Special Achievement Scholarship in graduate programs must meet the following minimum requirements: ALES score: 85.000/100.000, Foreign Language score: 75.00/100.00, Undergraduate GPA: 3.00/4.00 or higher

Scientific Achievement Scholarship

• This scholarship is awarded to students who receive scholarships from TÜBİTAK-BİDEB or other official funding institutions recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
• Students holding this scholarship are exempt from tuition fees.

Research Scholarship

• Consists of a full tuition waiver.

Project Scholarship

• This scholarship is awarded to students employed in externally funded research projects conducted at the University.
• If the project is completed before the student's program ends, continuation of the tuition waiver shall be evaluated by the Institute Administrative Board upon the recommendation of the project coordinator.

Staff Scholarship

• This scholarship is available to University employees.

50% Scholarship

• Consists of a 50% tuition waiver.

General Conditions

• Students holding Full Scholarships, Special Achievement Scholarships, or Scientific Achievement Scholarships are expected to contribute to the University's research and teaching activities.
• Students holding other scholarship statuses (e.g., Research Scholarship, Project Scholarship, or 50% Scholarship) are required, upon request by the relevant Institute, to assist with educational activities such as proctoring undergraduate examinations and grading assignments.

For students admitted in 2025

In the event of a change in the VAT rate, the tuition fees will be adjusted accordingly.

Notes:

• Tuition fees are collected in advance at the beginning of each academic year's fall semester.
• For students who pay tuition on a semester basis, a 20% installment surcharge will be applied to the summer semester tuition fee.
• Tuition fees for graduate programs are set at 30% of the tuition fee for undergraduate programs.

• Copy of the master's diploma (for doctoral applicants)
• Military service status certificate (for male applicants; obtainable via e-Devlet)
• ALES score report

• Official transcript, either signed or obtained via e-Devlet
• Statement of purpose
• Receipt of the application fee payment
• Two letters of recommendation (to be sent directly by the referees to basvuru@etu.edu.tr)

Additional Documents:

• Applicants for the TÜBİTAK BİDEB Scholarship must submit documentation confirming that they have been awarded the scholarship.
• Applicants seeking admission to a thesis-based master's program under the Research Scholarship scheme, who are employed by companies located in technoparks or by R&D institutions, must submit:
  a certificate of employment; and
  documentation confirming that their employer is eligible under this scholarship scheme.

International Applicants

In addition to the required application documents, international applicants must submit a copy of their passport. A student visa and residence permit will be requested only after final admission.

• International Applicants Unable to Meet the ALES Requirement
• Doctoral Program Applicants: A minimum score of 160/170 in the GRE Quantitative Reasoning section and 3.0/6.0 in the GRE Analytical Writing section.
• Scholarship Master's Program Applicants: A minimum score of 160/170 in the GRE Quantitative Reasoning section and 3.0/6.0 in the GRE Analytical Writing section.
• Tuition-Paying Master's Program Applicants: A minimum score of 156/170 in the GRE Quantitative Reasoning section and 3.0/6.0 in the GRE Analytical Writing section.
