I completed my co-op education at STM Cyber Security Department IoT-Guard division remotely in the 2020-2021 Spring Term; the semester was quite efficient, and I got the opportunity to work and gain expertise in several disciplines of Cyber security.

My coworkers and managers did not hesitate to assist me when I was working on wireless network security. Because I worked on an IoT project throughout my past co-op educations, I was able to quickly adjust to the job. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, BLE, and Zigbee are examples of wireless network technologies that I researched. I created security tools using the Python and Go programming languages, thanks to the equipment provided by STM. I was able to test the security of BLE-enabled devices such as smart lighting, oximeters, RF vehicle keys, and garage keys with this hardware.

And I'm still working part-time as a Propecting Engineer in the same division with the same teammates. I'd like to express my gratitude to TOBB ETU for allowing me to complete my co-op education and to all of my coworkers in STM.

 

Ömer Faruk Polat - Siemens

In Siemens Ankara ODTU Technopark, I completed my first co-op education in Power Systems Simulation. During my co-op ed., I learned a lot of useful information in a variety of subjects.

My coworkers used agile methods, splitting tasks into two-week time periods, and holding scrum meetings every morning before going to work. As a result, working with this strategy taught me a lot about my future job. My group is working on a project to create a cloud-based simulation service provider. The project includes a website interface, as well as a RESTful server and simulation engines. AWS Lambda, S3, EC2, DynamoDB, and AppStream are utilized for DevOps. I learned a lot about the topics that are essential for a cloud-based project. I had the opportunity to become familiar with the AWS interface by testing it. AngularJS is utilized for the project's UI. During my co-op study, I honed my skills in this widely used language. The distributed architecture paradigm is largely used for simulation. Components are given on multiple platforms in that model, yet they work together as a whole through communicating with one another.

The goal of practical theory is to bring applicable knowledge into practice. I am conscious that I am a part of this crucial co-op education in this context. I'd like to thank my team for allowing me to speak in all subjects and treating me as if I were an engineer like them, as well as my school for allowing me to solidify my education by doing practical work on the subjects that I've been taught, and for allowing me to develop myself in popular technologies such as Python, Angular, and .NET Core.
