Our part time instructor Murat Sever wins the 1st prize in the 9th annual Başakşehir Living Lab Innovation Contest in the “Academic” category.

Murat Sever is a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, working with Prof. Bülent Tavlı. He is a lead software engineer at Aselsan Inc. He is also a part time instructor in the course ELE 361L Communication Systems Laboratory, in the Summer and Fall 2022 semesters.

In order to provide the students a hands-on experience and solidify he concepts that they learn in the courses, Murat Sever integrated RTL-SDR software defined radios in the coursework. Through several lab sessions, students had chance to analyze, demodulate and decode real communication signals . Moreover, they gained experience in software and applications such as GNU Radio, Git, Python, Spyder Notebook and Matlab. RTL-SDR radios are handed to the students from the university budget.
