In this course committee, the subjects of organic chemistry, medical biochemistry, and the history of medicine constitute the core content. Within this framework, the structures, chemical bonds, and aqueous reactions of organic molecules such as amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, nucleotides, and lipids are examined, and the functional properties of macromolecules as well as the structures they form are discussed. Within the Good Medical Practices module, theoretical courses on evidence-based medicine are offered, including concepts of science and research, information literacy, reliable information, and publication ethics. In the history of medicine and ethics courses, the historical development of medicine is explored.
TIP 102 Cell Sciences II: From Cell to Tissue I Prerequisite: - - Credit ECTS: 8
In this course committee, the subjects of Anatomy (introduction to anatomy, general concepts, and body systems), Medical Biochemistry (biological membranes, hormones, signal transduction mechanisms, and high-energy compounds), Medical Biology (the concept of the cell, evolution and organization of the cell, organelles, intercellular junctions, and the structure and function of DNA), and Histology (general terminology, types of microscopes, cell structure, histological methods and techniques) are delivered with comparable emphasis. The historical development of medicine continues to be discussed within the History of Medicine and Ethics courses. In Biostatistics, fundamental concepts used in statistical evaluations—such as sampling, measures of central tendency and dispersion, normal distribution, p-values, and types of error—are covered. Additionally, topics include scientific research methods and the concept of planned research, sampling techniques, data entry, data cleaning, and preparation for analysis using Excel, as well as data entry and basic descriptive statistics with IBM SPSS Statistics.

In Medical Biochemistry courses, the metabolic pathways involved in the degradation of lipids and proteins, the electron transport chain, biosynthetic metabolic routes within cells, and the biochemistry of certain organelles are covered. In Medical Biology, topics such as DNA technology and mutation detection methods, non-Mendelian inheritance, the cell cycle, and cancer biology are discussed. Courses also address the histological features of organelles within the cellular structure and histological techniques. Within the Good Medical Practices course, students engage in project-based work and receive training on medical waste management, decontamination of infected materials, pulse and blood pressure measurement skills, and presentation techniques. Additionally, students are introduced to laboratory practices, basic epidemiological concepts and techniques, and the organization of healthcare services in Türkiye. In this course committee, lectures are delivered in the fields of pathology, medical microbiology and parasitology, and pharmacology, along with clinical courses and skills training provided by the Department of Medical Education. Within this scope, the emergence of infectious diseases; the structure and characteristics of common microbiological agents involved in such diseases; the mechanisms of action of antibiotic treatments; the activity spectrum, structures, and properties of different classes of antibiotics; and the pathological changes observed in tissues during infectious processes are examined. Laboratory findings are reviewed, drug groups used in treatment are identified, and fundamental clinical skills—such as clinical and laboratory examination methods required for establishing clinical diagnosis—are taught. This course committee aims to provide the cognitive and skills foundation necessary for patient diagnosis, care, treatment planning, and patient management in the clinical clerkships that will begin in the following academic year.

Within this internship, students receive training and practice in obtaining medical histories from patients with gynecological conditions and from pregnant women, communicating with them, preparing medical files, and performing basic examinations. They attend theoretical courses, participate in bedside teaching, and take part in seminar programs. Students observe patients in outpatient clinics and in the Obstetrics and Gynecology inpatient services under the supervision of faculty members and their assistants.
TIP 406 Forensic Medicine Prerequisite: Completion of the third year of medical school - Credits ECTS: 5
Within this internship, students receive instruction in forensic medicine and participate in practical training activities including observing autopsies at the Forensic Medicine Institution and preparing forensic reports. The aim of this clerkship is to equip students with the forensic medicine skills required in primary care settings—particularly in situations where physicians are expected to make legally binding decisions—and to provide them with knowledge regarding the legal responsibilities of medical practitioners

Students who complete the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Clerkship are expected to
(1) Acquire the skills necessary for the clinical approach to patients with infectious diseases
(2) Develop competence in the rational use of antibiotics, and,
(3) Gain knowledge and skills regarding the clinical presentation, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of common infectious diseases encountered in the community.
TIP 410 Pulmonology Prerequisite: Completion of the third year of medical school - Credits ECTS: 6
At the end of the Pulmonology Clerkship, students will;
1. Acquire the ability to obtain a medical history and perform a physical examination from patients with respiratory diseases, request appropriate laboratory tests, recognize pathological findings on chest X-rays, and perform differential diagnosis
2. Be able to diagnose and differentiate asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), and pneumonia, and initiate first-line treatment.
3. Gain knowledge about tuberculosis prevention and modes of transmission.
TIP 411 Internal Medicine Prerequisite: Completion of the third year of medical school - Credits ECTS: 7
Within this internship, students receive training and practice in obtaining medical histories from healthy and ill adult patients and performing basic physical examinations. They prepare medical files, attend theoretical lectures, and participate in bedside teaching sessions. Students observe inpatients in the Internal Medicine wards and outpatients undergoing diagnostic evaluation and treatment in the clinics, under the supervision of faculty members
TIP 412 Cardiology Prerequisite: Completion of the third year of medical school - Credits ECTS: 4
At the end of the Cardiology clerkship, students are expected to have the knowledge and skills to diagnose and differentiate diseases within the scope of adult cardiology, to provide appropriate first-line treatment, to determine when referral is necessary, and to appropriately refer patients to higher-level healthcare institutions

In this internship, students receive theoretical instruction and bedside training related to the recognition and management of common and emergency neurological diseases. They obtain medical histories from patients presenting to neurology outpatient clinics or admitted to inpatient services, perform neurological examinations, communicate with patients, assess their mental status, prepare medical files, and discuss clinical cases. In addition, students observe neurophysiological diagnostic procedures—such as electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and evoked potentials—in the neurophysiology laboratory under the supervision of faculty members

TIP 507 Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases) Prerequisite: Completion of the fourth year of medical school  - Credits ECTS: 3
Within this internship, students learn to recognize and manage common and emergency otorhinolaryngological conditions. They acquire and practice skills in obtaining medical histories from patients presenting to the ENT outpatient clinic, communicating with patients, and performing basic ENT examinations. They also learn the radiological and laboratory diagnostic methods required for establishing a diagnosis and gain the ability to prescribe treatments for ENT diseases. Students observe outpatient examinations, inpatients in clinical services, and surgical procedures under the supervision of faculty members and their assistants.
TIP 508 Dermatology and Venereology Prerequisite: Completion of the fourth year of medical school  - Credits ECTS: 5
Within this internship, students learn to recognize and manage common and emergency dermatological and venereal conditions. They receive training and practice in obtaining medical histories from patients presenting to the Dermatology outpatient clinic, communicating with patients, and performing basic dermatological examinations. They prepare medical files, attend theoretical lectures, and participate in seminar programs. Students observe patients in outpatient clinics and in Dermatology inpatient services, as well as dermatologic procedures, under the supervision of faculty members and their assistants.
TIP 509 Radiology Prerequisite: Completion of the fourth year of medical school  - Credits ECTS: 5
Within this internship, students gain knowledge of the various radiological imaging modalities, their applications, the physical principles underlying each modality, and their limitations. They learn radiological diagnostic algorithms for different organ systems and pathological conditions. In addition, students acquire introductory knowledge of simple interventional procedures performed under vascular and non-vascular ultrasonographic guidance
TIP 510 Pediatric Surgery Prerequisite: Completion of the fourth year of medical school  - Credits ECTS: 2
In this internship, theoretical instruction and bedside training are provided on the recognition and management of common and emergency pediatric surgical conditions. Students obtain medical histories from patients presenting to the Pediatric Surgery outpatient clinic or admitted to the inpatient service, perform general pediatric surgical examinations, communicate with pediatric patients and their families, evaluate cases, prepare medical files, and participate in case discussions. Additionally, students observe surgical and interventional procedures performed in Pediatric Surgery—such as wound dressing, abscess drainage, postoperative wound care, urinary catheter insertion and removal, nasogastric tube insertion and removal, and thoracic tube placement and removal—under the supervision of faculty members.
TIP 511 Orthopedics Prerequisite: Completion of the fourth year of medical school  - Credits ECTS: 5
Within this internship, the epidemiology, etiology, diagnostic and treatment methods, prognosis, complications, and preventive approaches of congenital and acquired diseases of the musculoskeletal system—including bones, cartilage, skeletal muscle, ligaments, and joints—as well as injuries resulting from trauma, are addressed in theoretical courses. Students receive training and practice in obtaining medical histories, communicating with patients, preparing medical files, and performing basic examinations on patients who seek medical care for these conditions. Bedside teaching and operating room training are also provided. Participation in case discussions, seminars, and journal reading sessions is included in the curriculum. Students observe patients and medical procedures in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and operating rooms under the supervision of faculty members
TIP 512 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Prerequisite: Completion of the fourth year of medical school  - Credits ECTS: 5
Within this internship, the epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation methods of congenital and acquired diseases, injuries, and pain conditions affecting the components of the musculoskeletal system—including bones, cartilage, skeletal muscles, ligaments, joints, and nervous tissue—are addressed in theoretical courses. Prognosis, complications, and preventive strategies related to these conditions are also discussed. Students receive training and practice in obtaining medical histories, communicating with patients, preparing medical files, and performing basic examinations on patients who present to healthcare institutions for these problems. Bedside teaching is provided, and participation in case discussions, seminars, and journal-review sessions forms part of the curriculum. Students observe patients and medical procedures in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and physical therapy and rehabilitation units under the supervision of faculty members

Within this clerkship, students learn the diagnosis, emergency management, and treatment of common and urgent conditions such as respiratory failure and circulatory failure. They receive training and practice in conducting pre-anesthetic evaluations and preparing patients who present to the preoperative anesthesia clinic, communicating with patients, monitoring critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, and tracking vital parameters during surgery. The clerkship includes theoretical courses as well as bedside training in the operating room and intensive care unit
