About the Department

Established in the founding year of TOBB ETÜ, the Department of International Relations launched one of the first undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) and welcomed its first cohort of students in 2005.

The Department of Political Science was founded in 2012. In 2016, the Departments of Political Science and International Relations were merged. Following this restructuring, the Department of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) began admitting students to its undergraduate program—bearing the same name as the department—under a renewed curriculum.

In line with the Faculty’s Mission and Vision presented below, the PSIR Department has defined its own departmental mission.

Mission of TOBB ETÜ FEAS:

“The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at TOBB ETÜ aims to educate leaders who possess contemporary knowledge and skills, who generate innovative solutions to economic and managerial problems, who are equipped with ethical values, and who can compete at both national and international levels. The Faculty is committed to expanding the boundaries of knowledge through research and societal contribution.”

Vision of the TOBB ETÜ FEAS:

“The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at TOBB ETÜ aims to contribute to the construction of a sustainable and equitable future by educating innovative and analytically-minded leaders who shape social and economic developments.”

Mission of the PSIR Department:

“The Department of Political Science and International Relations aims to educate individuals who can critically analyze political, economic, and social processes at both local and global levels; who possess ethical responsibility; and who are capable of multidimensional thinking. The Department further seeks to have graduates equipped to assume effective roles in the public sector, private sector, academia, and civil society.”

In line with its mission, the PSIR Department offers not only an undergraduate program but also postgraduate programs. These programs and the years in which they admitted their first cohorts are as follows:

International Relations (ULU) Master’s Program: Fall 2012

Security Studies (GUC) Master’s Program: Fall 2015

Political Science and International Relations Doctoral Program: Fall 2019

The Department continues its instruction and research activities across various fields with its current academic staff, maintaining a commitment to high standards of academic excellence.
