About the Faculty
HISTORY
In 2010, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) purchased the Private Mesa Hospital with the aim of establishing a medical faculty under TOBB University of Economics and Technology. The hospital was subsequently renamed “Private TOBB ETÜ Hospital.” It is located on Söğütözü Yaşam Caddesi, in close proximity to the TOBB ETÜ main campus.
The establishment of a Faculty of Medicine affiliated with the Rectorate of TOBB University of Economics and Technology was approved by the Council of Ministers on 16 December 2011, pursuant to Article 30 (additional) of Law No. 2809, based on the Ministry of National Education’s letter dated 6 December 2011 and numbered 24061.
The decision to establish the TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Medicine entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette on 11 January 2012. Prof. Dr. Ediz Demirpençe served as the founding dean.
In 2016, the institution was affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine under the name “TOBB ETÜ Center for Health Education, Practice, and Research.”
The TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Medicine graduated its first cohort of students in 2019.
Our Goals and Objectives
Our Mission
The mission of the TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Medicine is to conduct medical education, healthcare services, and scientific research with a student-centered and community-oriented approach. The goal of our integrated undergraduate medical education program is to train physicians who embrace evidence-based medical practice and personal/professional ethical values, who possess analytical skills, who are research-oriented, sensitive to public health needs, and humanistic in their professional conduct. Our graduates are expected to adopt patient-centered medical practices that employ current evidence-based knowledge and technology in all stages of healthcare (preventive medicine, diagnosis, and treatment), and to contribute to the generation of new knowledge through research on the factors that lead to disease development, using that knowledge with a critical perspective. With these qualities, graduates of the TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Medicine will become leaders who recognize the importance of innovation in the healthcare sector and understand its relationship with the broader economy.
