The programming team of TOBB ETÜ, comprised of Mustafa Erdem Kirez, Onur Yıldız and Mehmet Murat Akburak, who are the students of the Department of Computer Engineering of TOBB ETÜ, and coached by Associate Prof. Dr. Osman Abul, had previously achieved a phenomenal success and made us proud as they came in the 3rd place and the 6th place in two separate categories  at ACM-ICPC SEERC 2016.

İTÜ Software Marathon 2017 was held at ITÜ's Ayazaga campus on March 4 and 5. Following the pre-selection phase, a limited number of teams, comprised of the students of the prominent and distinguished universities in Turkey, qualified for the final. During the contest, which lasted for two days and in which teams of 3 competed with one another; Mustafa Erdem Kirez, a student of TOBB ETÜ, came in the 1st as a part of the team, titled Pokybird, which he had formed with Ömer Eren, a student of Bilkent University, and the team won 3 MacBook Pro computers. On the other hand, team SendNudes, of which Onur Yıldız, a student of TOBB ETÜ, was a member, came the 3rd at the contest.

Hacettepe Programming Contest (HUPROG) 2017 Was Held at Hacettepe Technocity on April 7. Mustafa Erdem Kirez, a student of TOBB ETÜ, joined the contest, which lasted for 24 hours, and in which teams of 3 competed with one another, as a part of team Pokybird, which he formed with Gülşen Arslan, a student of the Faculty of Medicine of Hacettepe University. Team Pokybird, which came in the first at the pre-selection phase, came in the second at the final as a result of the challenging round of 24 hours, and won the prize of TRY2,000.

METU Programming Contest Was Held at the Premises of the Faculty of Engineerng of METU on May 5. Mustafa Erdem Kirez, a student of TOBB ETÜ, joined the contest as a part of team LannistersSendTheirRegards, which he formed with Gülşen Arslan, a student of the Faculty of Medicine of Hacettepe University. The team came in the third in the contest, and won a prize of TRY2,000.

KU++ 2017 contest, organized by Koç University, was held on May 13. Mustafa Erdem Kirez, a student of TOBB ETÜ, joined the contest as a part of team Pokybird, which he formed with İkbal Kazar and Osman Orhan Uysal, students of Bilkent University. Team Pokybird, which came in the first at the pre-selection round of the contest, held on April 29, maintained its success and came in the first also at the final round, outscoring the other contestants. Team Pokybird won 3 MacBook Air computers as the prize. Also, team TreeIdiots, of which Onur Yıldız, a student of TOBB ETÜ, was a member, came the 3rd at the contest.

We congratulate our students, who, within a short period of time, achieved exceptional success at all contests held in Turkey, and successfully represented both Turkey and our University, and wish for their success to be continued.
