In this context, an introduction is provided to core topics in psychology, including intelligence assessment, lifespan development, motivation, emotion and the relationship between stress and health, personality, psychological disorders, and methods of therapy. | ||||

| In this course, it is aimed to teach students the scientific research methods used in psychology as a scientific discipline. For this purpose, students will learn hypothesis development and types of variables, cause–effect relationships and sampling, the concepts of reliability and validity, qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, experimental and quasi-experimental methods, and the reporting of analyzed data. | ||||

| The aim of this course is to understand the fundamental concepts related to research methods and statistics, to comprehend the basic processes of research, and to acquire report-writing skills. In this context, topics include probability, statistical notation, frequency tables, frequency distributions and their graphical representations, measures of central tendency, percentiles, standard scores, normal distribution, hypothesis testing, the z-test, correlation, and regression, and practical applications are conducted using SPSS or JASP. | ||||

| Topics that constitute a continuation of Statistics I for Psychology are covered in this course. In this context, single- and two-sample t-tests, simple and mixed-design ANOVA, multiple regression, and the concepts of sampling and estimation are addressed, and practical applications are conducted using SPSS or JASP. | ||||

| In this course, the definition of social psychology, the relationship between theory and practice in social psychology, and methods in social psychology are covered. Within this scope, topics include conformity, altruism, helping behavior, collective influences on individual behavior, interpersonal relations and the relationship between sociology and psychology, social power, group psychology and decision-making strategies, attribution theory, interpersonal attraction and repulsion, hostility, aggression, prosocial behavior, and the social and physical environment. | ||||

| This course concerns the ethical principles that exist in the research and practice of psychology. In addition to general ethical problems, ethical principles concerning responsibilities toward humans and animals in psychological research and applications are addressed. Throughout the course, students are informed about ethical problems in different subdisciplines of psychology, including research, counseling, education, clinical practice, therapy, and other fields, and about how these problems are handled. Topics such as confidentiality, conflict of interest, ethical competence, and unethical practices are covered. | ||||

| This course examines how the physiological, genetic, and developmental mechanisms of behavior in humans and nonhuman animals are explained using the principles of biology, particularly neurobiology. | Within the scope of this course, students gain knowledge about the definition and theories of clinical psychology, its subfields, the general characteristics of psychotherapy, the client–therapist relationship, the roles and responsibilities of the clinical psychologist, and approaches to assessment and intervention. | ||||
Elective Courses
Students enrolled in the Undergraduate Program in the Department of Psychology are required to take a total of nine elective courses during their period of study. Three of these electives are university-wide elective courses and are selected from courses offered by departments other than the Department of Psychology. The remaining six courses are departmental electives offered by the Department of Psychology under the PSİ course code, and the elective courses offered in our department are listed below.
