The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the founding departments of TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETÜ), established in 2003. The department admitted its first 46 undergraduate students in 2004 and officially commenced its educational activities. Today, in addition to its undergraduate program, the department offers Master's and Ph.D. programs and has a student population of more than 450.

The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program at TOBB ETÜ is accredited by MÜDEK and holds the EUR-ACE® Bachelor Label. MÜDEK is a full signatory of the Washington Accord, an international agreement that promotes the substantial equivalence of engineering degree programs accredited by its signatory organizations worldwide.

 The Educational Objectives of the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program define the career goals and professional expectations that our graduates are expected to achieve after graduation.

Accordingly, our graduates are expected to:

1. Pursue careers in established companies within the mechanical engineering industry.
2. Continue their education through graduate studies in mechanical engineering and related disciplines.
3. Possess the competencies required to work effectively in a global environment.
4. Establish technology-driven and industry-oriented startup companies.
